A reception is often the first impression visitors have of a business. Itβs where workplace branding and interior design come together, and where even small design changes can make a significant impact on how a brand is presented and experienced.
Following a recent brand refresh, Kingsley Napley wanted to introduce its new identity into its existing reception. The challenge was to create a stronger brand presence without compromising the architecture, materials and finishes already in place.
The result is a bespoke illuminated brand installation that creates a striking focal point, integrating seamlessly with the surrounding reception design. But behind this seemingly simple feature lies a complex process of design development, technical coordination and precision craftsmanship.
Design Development: Creating a Branded Reception Feature
Working closely with Kingsley Napley, our graphics and interiors teams developed a bespoke solution that would showcase the KN mark at scale, combining materials from the existing interior with colours from the refreshed brand palette.
The challenge was to achieve a strong visual impact while preserving the discretion and refinement central to Kingsley Napley's identity.
Rather than undertaking a complete reception refurbishment, the design demonstrates how a considered intervention can transform the way a brand is experienced within an existing workplace.
Technical considerations: Bringing the design to life
Translating the concept into a finished installation meant working within the constraints of the existing architecture and wall panelling.
Our technical teams refined the details, from lighting controls and shadow-gap depths to achieving the right balance of illumination, light wash and shadow. Each decision influenced how the finished brand feature would appear within the reception.
A particularly important consideration was the weight of the installation. Working alongside our specialist joinery partners, we assessed how the combination of materials would affect the overall load and developed a fixing strategy that safely distributed the weight across the supporting structure.
This technical coordination was essential to delivering a bespoke feature that balanced visual impact with the practical demands of the existing space.
Installation with minimal disruption
With a busy reception to work around, installation needed to be carefully planned to minimise disruption to Kingsley Napley's day-to-day operations.
By coordinating our specialist teams and working outside normal business hours, we completed the installation, alongside several additional improvements throughout the building, over a single weekend.
The reception feature forms just one part of a wider project, but it demonstrates how creative design, technical expertise and specialist craftsmanship can come together to deliver meaningful changes to an existing workplace.
For Kingsley Napley, the result is a refreshed reception that brings its new brand identity into the physical environment, without the need to redesign the entire space.
It's a reminder that effective workplace branding isn't always about starting again. Sometimes, the greatest impact comes from understanding what's already there and knowing exactly where to make a change.
