A London flagship, reimagined for Steinway & Sons

We transformed Steinway Hall on Marylebone Lane with a striking new façade, refined showroom and hospitality spaces, bringing the London destination in line with Steinway & Sons’ global flagships.

Brief

Shaped around the historic brand

Steinway & Son’s needed a refreshed space that would elevate their street presence and make passing traffic genuinely want to step inside.The brief called for modernising the historic London showroom to match their global brand, replacing the tired exterior with a dark black and gold facade, and upgrading the internal lighting to show off their world-class pianos.

Approach

Creating an unmissable entrance

The frontage was transformed to give Steinway Hall a stronger presence on Marylebone Lane. Dark-framed windows, doors and signage align with the brand’s global flagships, while upgraded lighting increases visibility after dark, creating a more inviting arrival designed to encourage footfall.

Creating space to shine

Careful protection and sequencing allowed the refurbishment to progress while retaining key elements of the existing interior. This provided the foundation for new finishes and features to be introduced with minimal disruption to the surrounding space.

Creating a reason to stay

As the fit out reached its final stages, bespoke joinery, finishes and branded details brought a greater sense of cohesion to the showroom. The result is an arrival space that feels considered, welcoming and unmistakably Steinway & Sons.

Features

Showroom lighting built for the pianos

Standard ceiling lighting was replaced with directional spotlights, carefully positioned to showcase each piano, while the stage was upgraded with performance-grade lighting designed to meet the needs of touring artists.

A hospitality hub for clients

A new hospitality hub and refreshment points give clients a place to sit, talk and connect. The design turns a brief, passing visit into an engaging full showroom experience.

A stronger presence on Marylebone Lane

New dark-framed windows, doors and signage bring Steinway Hall in line with the brand's global flagships. After dark, the upgraded lighting makes the building stand out from every other frontage on the street, driving stronger recognition and more footfall through the door.

Details

Rich timbertones, dark metal accents, and gold detailing give the space its signatureelegance. A brand-driven palette that makes the showroom feel less like aretail floor and more like an immersive flagship experience.
