On Level 9 of The Shard, this 15,361 ft² CAT B fit-out relocated Robert Half and Protiviti one floor down. And gave two long-established affiliate businesses a shared home with distinct identities and room to collaborate.

Brief

Two businesses, one connected floor

After a decade on Level 10 of The Shard, Robert Half and Protiviti needed a workspace that reflects how they work today. The brief was to give each business its own branded environment, while creating a suite of shared spaces that would finally bring the two organisations together in a meaningful way.

Approach

Establishing the vision

Before construction began, we invested time in understanding how the two businesses wanted to use the space. Early planning sessions and stakeholder engagement aligned workplace objectives with the realities of the floor plate, creating a clear roadmap for delivery.

Refining the strategy

Collaborative workshops and on-site reviews shaped the final design. By testing ideas within the space itself, we developed a workplace strategy that balanced business needs, employee experience and future flexibility.

Delivering an exceptional workplace

The completed environment provides a variety of settings for collaboration, focus and informal interaction. Combined with panoramic views across London, the workplace supports productivity, wellbeing and a stronger connection between people and place.

Shared social hub

At the heart of the floor, a social space with folding walls can flex to host informal catch-ups, larger events and everything in between. It’s a hub where both businesses can come together.

Flexible training suite

A dedicated training suite, also with folding walls, provides bookable, adaptable space for learning, development and larger team sessions. It’s purpose-built for how these modern teams actually use their office.

Space to meet and greet

For receiving guests, we created an inviting, shared reception area. A polished, professional setting that creates a strong first impression at one of London's most recognisable addresses.

Dedicated zones for each business

Each business has its own clearly defined space. Robert Half’s comes with areas for agile working and project rooms with video conferencing. And Protiviti asked for its proven collaboration zone to be reinstated with additional project rooms available nearby.

Details

Each business brings its own palette, and a carefully coordinated neutral scheme ties the shared spaces together.
