The Challenge
Using biophilia to create an eye-catching and lettable space.
The ground floor at The Bailey had been on the market for some time with little tenant interest. Endurance Land tasked us with creating a bright and attractive plug & play space ready for immediate occupation.
We achieved this by bringing nature into the space. The focal piece a central feature tree instalment which faces the secondary entrance opposite the underground station for all to see. The result is a natural space full of woods and biophilia, focusing on well-being within a busy city.
What We Did
Rich timbers, clean lines and biodiversity throughout.
Taking inspiration from European outdoor lounge areas, we merged a built up city environment with the beauty of organic shapes, smells and textures.
The nearby buildings meant the space had some dark areas by the windows. We carefully selected lighter flooring in the main open plan areas, created a light, bright tea point and utilised tones of oak to offset dark areas and bring warmth and natural brightness into the space.
An earthy colour palette supporting a sustainable approach.
Overall, we wanted to continue the general language of the main building reception, which is contemporary and elegant. As such we included curves through the tree feature, brass details such as floor trims, feature lighting and ironmongery with a continue elements of textures and tones.
Meeting rooms feature slightly contrasting tones with a darker carpet, however the space is lifted by the brighter feature walls, furniture finishes and the brass fixing details.
We created a large boardroom with a foldable wall, catering for additional enclosed small or larger meetings. A central hub space to bring colleagues together served by a functional tea point and informal collaboration settings. In addition the space comprises informal meeting areas, meeting rooms, enclosed booths/pods for virtual meetings and calls and open plan workstations.
